Lee Roy Selmon's past combines the virtues of family football scholarship with community service. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. The family lived on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he played with three of his brothers in Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the leading lineman of the nation. Oklahoma was the winner of two National Championships in his three-year tenure as the starter. Selmon was granted a 3rd scholarship in 1975. He was also named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's qualification in the field of education. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. Following college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times, and began a business career. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed with the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and also the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no doubt that it was a surprise to hear that he was voted one of the top 10 young men across the United States in 1982 by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs 256 pounds. He captained his college team in 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an associate director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award presentation was given by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
